If you want to start baking at home, here are some tips that I can share with you because this hobby is somehow expensive. You have to invest in tools, pieces of equipment and ingredients which costs money and of course, it includes patience.
So for you to avoid buying things that you don't need yet, I'll share with you the things that you must have when starting baking.
1. Measuring Cups for Wet and Dry Ingredients and Measuring Spoons - In baking, accurate measurements of ingredients are crucial because a simple mistake or adjustment can affect the outcome of the baked goods. Some recipes were in cups for dry ingredients, and liquid ingredients were in ml (milliliter). Other recipes ask for grams instead. In this case, you might have to get a kitchen weighing scale to get an exact measurement of your ingredients.
2. Measuring Spoons - Like other food recipes measuring spoons are essential so that every ingredient are well balanced. As a beginner, you should learn how to follow measurements strictly so that you will not waste the ingredients.
3. Flour Sifter - This is used for dry ingredients to break lumps in flour to get an accurate measurement, and it will make the ingredients mixed easier.
4. Mixing bowl - There is a variety of mixing bows that you can buy. They have ceramic, stainless, glass, or plastic. Depending on what you plan to bake, if you will make bread, you might need a big mixing bowl.
6. Baking-Pan - You will find different shapes and sizes of baking pans in the stores. Before you buy them, decide first what baked goods you would want to start baking. You can buy at least one for brownies, one for cake and one for cupcakes.
8. Oven - As a beginner in baking, you can buy a countertop oven since it does not occupy too much space. Most bakers use a convection oven. It cooks evenly and faster than other types of oven. On the other hand, if you don't have a budget for an oven yet, you can still bake using an improvised one or a steamer. Although, when using an alternative way of baking, you must check the time and temperature to avoid under baked or overbaked pastry. With that, you have to buy a baking thermometer to get the right temperature.
